My name is Jason Etter and I am a person in long term recovery. What that means to me is that I have not put a drink or a drug in my body for two years. I am also an Ashtanga Yoga practitioner.
I was born in Wichita, KS and moved quite often throughout my childhood. I finally landed in El Dorado, Kansas at the age of 11 after my parents split. Having a whirlwind of a childhood and exposed to several traumas by that time I was naturally drawn to mind-altering substances. It was everything I could do to not be present in my mind, body or spirit. From there the rest is history.
I found my self entering recovery in 2012. After spending 15 years of my life in addiction I could not do it anymore. That is not to say I have not relapsed because I have. That is part of my story and that’s OK. They do not define me. I have been practicing yoga since 2014 and Ashtanga for about 18 months.
I met Taylor at The Trini Forum in October of 2018 and since then my whole life has changed. This practice have become much deeper and now serves a much deeper purpose for myself and for others that are aware of their suffering, addict or not. I know today the only thing I can do for you is work on me and the only thing you can do for me is work on you. This practice has truly mad that possible on the deepest levels. I hope my story reaches someone to inspire hope. Thank you.
